The Empire Football League held its 40th Annual Meeting recently in Plattsburgh, New York and announced that it will have 8 member teams for the 2009 season. The Broome County Dragons returned from a leave of absence, while the Scranton Eagles were granted a one year leave of absence giving the EFL 8 active teams for the season. The EFL is comprised of the following teams for 2009: Watertown, Massena, Amsterdam, Binghamton, Plattsburgh, Vermont, Quebec, Ottawa

The EFL season starts July 11^th, has a bye September 5^th and ends September 19^th.  The EFL Playoffs will take place on September 26^th and will conclude with the EFL Championship Game on October 10^th.    

The Empire Football League, in its 41^st season of playing football, is celebrating its 40^th Anniversary this year (2009).

2009 Empire Football League Officers were elected as follows:
- Dave Burch, EFL Commissioner

- Bill Higgins, Commissioner of Officials
- Gary Shaver, Treasurer/Deputy Commissioner

- Al Dole, Rules Committee Chairman/Deputy Commissioner
- Jane Dole, Secretary
