Several Zephyrs earn EFL honors

Several zephyrs earn EFL honors

Amsterdam Zephyrs Linebacker Joey Hall was named defensive Rookie of the Year and wide receiver Ismaal Green was named Offensive Rookie of the Year for the Empire Football League.

Overall, the Zephyrs had three players, Green, running back Elijah White, linebacker Rick Fish and defensive back Jeremiah Newborn earn first-team honors.

Guards Chris Roberts and Josh Saulisbury, center Jay Garvey, quarterback Ken Schaefer, punter/kicker Brian Barrett, nose tackle Raphael Nicosia, defensive tackle Kyle Zoller and linebacker Joey Hall were named to the second team.

Wide receiver Josh Newborn, guard Matt Dolly, tackle Bob Lofferdo, Barrett (at fullback), running back Joe Newborn, defensive tackle Michael Castrello, defensive ends Alex McKinsey, Rick Huelett and Tucker Gifford, linebacker Mark Nellis, and defensive backs Eugene May and Jorge Rodriguez all earned honorable mention.

Vermont quarterback Brad Ruderman was named offensive MVP and the Ice Storm's Del Randall was named Defensive MVP, while coach Doug Perez was Coach of the Year after leading Vermont to a 10-1 record, which includes a runner-up finish.

The Quebec Titans won the championship with a 12-10 win over the Ice Storm
