Vermont blanks Zephyrs

Staff Report

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Amsterdam Zephyrs season came to an abrupt end Saturday night with a 48-0 thrashing at the hands of the Vermont Ice Storm in the Empire Football League semifinals.

Ken Schaefer completed 7-of-25 passes for 57 yards for the Zephyrs, who clinched a playoff spot last week by completing a weather-suspended 33-32 win over Ottawa that pushed the EFL playoffs back by a week. Elijah White led Amsterdam with 34 rushing yards, while Cedrick Pearman caught four passes for 29 yards.

Defensively for Amsterdam, Eugene May and Will Parson each had an interception for the Zephyrs, while Rick Fish led the unit with six tackles - five solo - and Tucker Gifford added a blocked kick.
