WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- The Watertown Red and Black semi-pro football team continued its fund raising efforts Sunday. The team is currently on a bye week and trying to raise money to help pay for their everyday needs, including gas for road trips.

On Sunday, the team joined forces with Jean's Beans in Watertown for its second annual chicken barbecue lunch. The guys say the community has been amazingly willing to help out.

"It means everything for our existence," said head coach George Ashcraft. "Maybe we'll have to do one less thing that maybe wouldn't make as much, as far as a profit goes type thing. But we've had to do more this year than in the past."

The Red and Black's next home game is Saturday night against Vermont. It's military appreciation night and a Fort Drum helicopter is scheduled to land on the field to present the game ball.
