Empire Football League

          Tryouts for the Scranton Eagles semipro football team are scheduled Sunday, March 26, and Saturday, April 1, at The Playing Fields Sports Dome in Jessup.

          The Eagles under second-year coach Mike Woodard will open the 2006 Empire Football League campaign Saturday night, July 8, at Scranton Memorial Stadium against the Broome County, N.Y., Dragons.

          The March 26 tryouts will run from 1:30 until 3 p.m. with registration at 1 p.m. On April 1 tryouts will take place from 5 until 7 p.m., and registration at 4:30 p.m. Turf shoes are required.

          Veterans are encouraged to attend both tryouts, and bring copies of their driver licenses (photo ID) and insurance cards, both on the same sheet of paper if possible.

          New players must do the same and also will be required to pay a $25 tryout fee. Former players who have not completed a full year with the team must also pay the $25 fee.
