Dragons ousted from EFL playoffs
From staff reports
PLATTSBURGH -- The Broome County Dragons had their second-half comeback fall short with an interception in the final minutes of a 28-26 loss to the Lake City Stars on Saturday night in the opening round of the Empire Football League playoofs.
After leading the Dragons (6-5) to a pair of scoring drives after halftime to pull within two points, Ty Fish's final pass of the night was intercepted in the end zone as he was looking for Brian Mister. The interception came on first down from the Lake City 42 just after the two-minute warning. Fish connected with Rob Stokstad for a 12-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter but his pass to tight end Jonathan Bechey for the potential game-tying two-point conversion was broken up. The Dragons fell behind 28-6 in the second quarter but cut the deficit to 14 with a 2-yard TD run by Fish and a two-point pass to Bechey. Fish finished with two rushing touchdowns and two more passing and the one interception.
